And that is perfectly OK!!!

Your wedding is, and will be, a celebration between you and your partner – those lucky enough to witness your union will be excited to share in celebrating your unique story. 

But depending on your cultural backgrounds and religious beliefs, you may have a fair number of formalities and traditions you want to incorporate into the ceremony and formalities of the reception. This often includes family member participation, but it can be overwhelming to think about how many sides you have to incorporate…Especially if you have a large family with multiple sides.

Any way that you wish to honor those family members who mean alot to you will be heartfelt.

Here are some unique ways to incorporate multiple family members into the ceremony and formalities on your wedding day. 

1. Reserve additional seats for key extended family members or important people like godparents, step relatives and/or mentors. Let those people know ahead of time that the ceremony their seats are reserved. An added touch is to have your officiant recognize those very important people to start off the ceremony with a short ‘thank you’ for their support.
2. Unity tree planting/watering – Announce your family members who will be coming up to join in the unity ceremony. This way you can have more family members participate than a typical 2 candle unity ceremony: Ex. Stepparents, and/or step siblings can all be announced as taking part in this activity. 
3. Are your relatives musicians or singers? Have them perform a hymn or song (Note – this one does need a bit more coordinating!… so just be particular on this request who you would ask to be a part of the ceremony!)
4. Shout it from the rooftops!! Let your Djs & Mc’s shout out your very important people ahead of the bridal entrance. And, you don’t necessarily need to include everyone in the entrance walks, but it allows for a fun moment dedicated to them. From our experience, this acknowledgement will go a long way to make someone feel special!
